Ideation
A custom piece can begin anywhere from a brief description, to a napkin sketch or a detailed set of architectural drawings.
From the initial concept, each piece then takes the form of a 3D model in SolidWorks. This parametric engineering program helps us figure out all of the details, right down to the nuts and bolts. The initial concept model is then converted into a drawing for client approval, where overall dimensions, proportions, fine detailing, materials and finishes are conveyed before production.
Design
Once drawings are signed off, we utilise the existing 3D model to export production data such as cut lists, production drawings for external vendors and a variety of 2D and 3D file formats for 3-axis and 5-axis CNC, laser cutting and sheet metal folding.
Through our extensive experience in most furniture related mediums, we are able to produce our own engineering drawings for outsourced products such as metal, upholstery and stone to ensure that pieces with multiple materials come together seamlessly.
Fabrication
All pieces are manufactured in our Heidelberg West workshop. Timber is hand selected for each project, enabling us to ensure colour and grain consistency across the different boards required for a piece.
We offer a standard range of hardwax oil finishes, however we can also develop and match custom finishes in both hand applied and sprayed (2-pac) applications.
